Zimbabwe’s best transaction bank 2025: Stanbic Bank

Stanbic Bank combined innovation, efficiency and client-centricity to strengthen its leadership in transaction banking.

The bank processed an average of 312,000 domestic and 4,000 cross-border payment transactions each month in 2024, with 80% executed through instant or real-time channels – among the highest rates in the Zimbabwean market.

Its investment in digital onboarding has transformed client access. A new online account-opening system reduced lead times from 48 hours to under 10 minutes for some customer segments. This marked leap in efficiency reflects Stanbic Bank’s broader ambition to make banking effortless for corporates and individuals alike.

It combines scale, innovation and reliability to serve the rapidly evolving needs of a challenging market

Enhancements to the Stanbic mobile banking app further elevated its transaction capabilities. Major upgrades in 2024 introduced multi-currency functionality (USD and ZWG), integrated bill and airtime payments, single sign-on across channels, and international payments for retail, SME and large corporate users. Real-time feedback through a digital net promoter score function now enables continuous service improvement.

The bank also expanded its physical transaction infrastructure, deploying 11 new ATMs and five bulk note acceptors, and enabling deposit-taking at 22 ATMs nationwide. Together, its digital and physical investments underscore Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe’s ability to combine scale, innovation and reliability to serve the rapidly evolving needs of a challenging market.
