Best for premier banking: maib
Maib’s premier banking offering stood out in Moldova thanks to its clearer client segmentation, stronger adviser capacity and a broad investment toolkit delivered during the review period.
Between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, maib expanded its client base and product usage, with stronger demand for premium services such as preferential credit lines, corporate bonds and digital onboarding, reinforcing engagement within the segment.
Maib refined the interface between its premier tier maib alto and private banking to make progression more deliberate and structured. A significant share of new private banking relationships originated in the premier segment, and during the review window these clients continued to consolidate deposits and investment products with the bank. This supported assets under management (AUM) despite exchange-rate volatility, with volumes broadly stable on a constant currency basis.
Coverage expanded, with the addition of three relationship managers by mid-2025, while a structured development path moved bankers from foundation to expert through product mastery, advisory skills and cultural literacy.
Revenue increased sharply across the period and return on assets improved. The capacity build also allowed higher-quality responses to operational requests through priority routing and a designated line when personal managers were unavailable.
The proposition widened beyond deposits. Corporate bonds and longer-tenor instruments were introduced to suit clients with surplus savings who did not need immediate liquidity, with managers trained to identify suitability and avoid simple switching from term deposits.
For internationally mobile Moldovans, digital onboarding enabled access to services without frequent branch visits, supporting relationship depth even when clients were abroad.
